Does anyone remember Have-a-Rest House
While doing a search on a resort in Minisink, I came upon your email address. Here's my facts:
My aunt (Irene Meissner) and her father (last name Schmitt - I think that's the correct spelling) owned a resort in Minisink called The Hav-a-rest House. I remember going there when I was about 5 years old. That was back around 1947ish. Mom and Dad used to go there during the summer to help out. Dad did handyman stuff, Mom helped out as a waitress. I have a picture someplace which I'll have to find. I also remember they had a small bar type building across 209. Being so young, my memories are not that clear.
I'm wondering if you've come across any mention of it in you travels of that area.

Schmitt's Mountain Resort circa early 1980's
Diane Cellini used to vacation with her family at Schmitt's in the 1970's through the early 1980's. In the early years of the mid-1980's Diane cleaned rooms and lived there for awhile. Pictured below are some of the cleaning staff in their rooms which were in the rec hall which suffered from a fire in 1996 and was replaced with a much larger building in 1997. The other photos were taken around Schmitt's in the early 1980's. I am so happy and thankful that Diane has so many memories and photos to share!
